Small Group Service Opportunity -- Hammerheads

Small_logo_3 Put on your painting clothes and gather your small group together for a Saturday of fellowshipping and doing service for others in Jesus' name!  By partnering with Caring Hearts & Hands' Hammerheads team on home repair and improvement projects you demonstrate Christ's compassion in action to people in need of hope and this type of assistance.  To sign up your small group for this service opportunity, contact Caring Hearts & Hands at 630-388-5190 or email caringhearts@communitychristian.org.

Small Group Service Opportunity -- Meals

Small_logo_2

Caring Hearts & Hands' Meals team provides dinners for families dealing with crisis, loss, sickness, and emotional and physical pain.  We are growing fast, and meal requests are coming in six, seven, and eight families at a time!   We would love your small group to partner with us and "adopt" one of our families by providing meals for them over a period of time (you specify for how long and how often to provide a meal.)  You will get so much more out of this than you expect!  These meals are about way more than the food.  They are about giving generous, tangible expressions of Jesus' love during a time that's often incredibly difficult. To get your small group involved in making meals or to find out more about this service project, contact Caring Hearts & Hands at 630-388-5190 or email caringhearts@communitychristian.org.

Music and Message Service Group

Would you like to help the lost, the aging, the blind or the sick with the gift of music? Many people are unable to come to church. Some are in nursing homes, hospitals, or jails and many are suffering physically and/or emotionally. Music can lift and soothe the spirit and the message of Christ can bring them hope. If you have musical talents and would like to help others in this way,  please contact Angela Shackleton at a.shackleton@comcast.net or call (630) 820-3020.

Small Group Service Opportunity -- Prayer Blankets

Small_logoMaking fleece-tied prayer blankets as a small group is a great service project you can do together!  You will enjoy fellowshipping as you work, and your blankets will bring mercy and prayer to people in need of comfort. CCC's Caring Hearts & Hands ministry gives out the completed blankets as a tangible symbol of our church family's love during times of loss, crisis, illness, surgery, chemo, loneliness and more.  They enfold the recipient in our Lord's embrace and let them know they are not alone.

With two people to a blanket, each blanket takes about an hour and a half to complete.  While creating the blankets the group prays for the recipients, asking the Lord to hold them close to His heart, and to bring peace, comfort, strength and courage.   To get your small group involved in making prayer blankets or to find out more about this service project, contact Caring Hearts & Hands at 630-388-5190 or email caringhearts@communitychristian.org.

New Prayer Blanket and Shawl Service Group

Small_logo_3 CCC's Caring Hearts & Hands ministry invites you to join our new service small group to make prayer blankets and shawls, as well as, enjoy fellowship with others.   The blankets and shawls are a tangible symbol of our church family's prayer and love during times of loss, crisis, illness, surgery, chemo, loneliness and more.  They enfold the recipient in our Lord's embrace and let them know they are not alone.  While creating the blanket or shawl the crafter prays for the recipient, asking the Lord to hold them close to His heart, and to bring peace, comfort, strength and courage.  The blankets and shawls can be sewn, quilted, knitted, crocheted and made in any pattern, color or fabric you choose.  They can even be made as simply as knotting together pieces of fleece.  Donations of fleece, fabric and yarn are always appreciated.  The group meets the first and third Wednesday nights of each month from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Room 210 at the Yellow Box.  To find out more about this serving and fellowshipping opportunity please call group leader, Denise Allen, at 630-278-9707 or email dalae@allstate.com.

Caring Listeners Needed

Small_logo_2CCC's Caring Hearts & Hands ministry is looking for caring listeners to join our Compassion Calls service small group, to reach out to people of CCC and in our community who are going through difficult times.  When someone is hurting, why do we think we need to offer them some grandiose solution or sage wisdom?  The answer is -- we don't!  The first step, and often the most valuable, is just "being there" for them.  The commitment of "being there", with an ear to listen and care, can make all the difference to a person who is struggling.  Often, it is the place where hope starts.  And, the most awesome part of this for Christians is that when we are there with someone we bring Jesus with us!  Who better to have on their team than God?  To learn more about this serving opportunity please contact Caring Hearts & Hands at 630-388-5190 or email caringhearts@communitychristian.org.
